St Joseph's School (SJS) is a primary to secondary school in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.[1]

The school was established in 1967 and is managed by the Apostolic Vicariate of the Roman Catholic Church to Arabia.[2] After its establishment, the school was managed by H. E. Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli, O.F.M. Cap., Vicar Apostolic Emeritus, the former Bishop (retired March 2005) of the Vicariate of Arabia, afterwards succeeded by H. E. Paul Hinder, O.F.M. Cap., the current Bishop. The school, always associated with the Roman Catholic Church, was located initially with the church building on the Corniche strip. Following the decision of the local government that the site be altered, the present foundation was laid for church and school buildings on 19 March 1981, and dedicated to St Joseph, the foster father of Christ, whose feast-day is celebrated on the same day. The day-to-day working of the school is managed by the Carmelite Sisters of St Theresa,
The school accommodates more than 1500 students,[3] with great demand for seats annually to due to rise in the population in Abu Dhabi. Students are mainly from Indian background because the abu dhabi Indian school has no place for the complete indian population in UAE.
The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The medium of instruction is English. In the Senior Secondary there are two streams (Science and Commerce), which can be chosen by students or advised by the teachers.
The school has maintained a 100% pass rate since its affiliation with CBSE in 1989. The 2007 results were the second highest in UAE.
A variety of arts and crafts are taught at the school, such as needlework, foil embossing, drawing and painting. The seniors from class VI learn Work Experience (Computer Education). All students are divided into houses where they earn merits and demerits. The houses are Rose, Bluebell, Shamrock and Sunflower.
The school library has been updated with encyclopaedias, reference books and other reading materials to satisfy the needs of all the classes. The library also has a qualified full-time librarian who is a teacher.
The science laboratories have been fully equipped with apparatus, specimens, slides, models and charts to meet the requirements of all classes. The school is also equipped with sufficient computers to cater to classes VII to XII.
